UP PCS 2020 Preliminary Exam Revised Result Challenged in Allahabad High Court

Prayagraj, J.N.N. The revised result of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) preliminary examination of PCS-2020 has been challenged in the Allahabad High Court. It is alleged that the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission released the revised results and removed 1015 previously selected candidates from the selection list. No reason has been given for this nor have the candidates been given a hearing.

Mahesh Singh and others have filed a petition in the High Court regarding this. The petition was heard by a single bench of Justice Sunita Agarwal. On the request of the Advocate of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, the High Court has ordered to present the matter for hearing at 10 am on Friday.

The petitioners’ advocate Atul Kumar Shahi said that the petitioners were selected for the post of Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) in the PCS-2020 preliminary examination. The Commission released the revised result of preliminary examination on 24 November 2020. However, this time the new selection list had only the names of 1575 candidates selected on CDPO, but in the revised list, all 1015 candidates, including those previously selected, were excluded.

Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has released only roll numbers. No details of category and score have been given. The transparency of the revised result is in doubt. The advocate said that the petitioners were not known before the selection list nor did they get any opportunity to be heard. This is against the principle of natural justice. The court sought a response from the Public Service Commission in the matter. The advocate of the commission demanded time, on which the court has directed the case to be presented for hearing at 10 am on 22 January.
