More than 2.97 lakh posts are vacant in Railways, how many posts have been filled so far, the central government gave information in Parliament

Indian Railways, Jobs, Vacancy, Jobs in Railway, Delhi: The Central Government told Parliament on Friday that by the end of 2021, more than 2.87 lakh posts were vacant in the Indian Railways, while in June 2022 this number increased to more than 2.97 lakh. The government also said that no post in the Railways has been abolished during the last three months. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave these figures in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha regarding the area wise and division wise vacancies of gazetted and non-gazetted posts in Indian Railways. According to the data furnished by Vaishnav, the total number of sector-wise vacancies in Indian Railways as on 31 December 2021 was 2,87,985, of which 1,880 posts were gazetted and 2,86,105 posts were non-gazetted. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “As on June 30, 2022, the number of vacant gazetted posts is 1,916 and the number of vacant non-gazetted posts is 2,95,684.” Thus the total number of vacancies till June 2022 is 2,97,600. When asked about the details of the posts that were abolished in the Railways in the last three months, the Railway Minister said, “No post has been abolished in the Railways during the last three months. When asked about a question related to the number of vacancies filled in railways during the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 and till now in the year 2022, as per the data given by Vaishnav, 548 gazetted posts were filled in this period , while 1,47,672 non-gazetted posts were filled.

According to the data, 479 gazetted vacancies were filled in 2019-20 and 69 in 2020-21. The government informed that the final results of 2021-22 in this category are awaited.

According to this, a total of 76,456 non-gazetted vacancies were filled between 2019 and 2022, while a total of 60,693 posts in Level-1 i.e. erstwhile ‘D’ group were filled during the same period. K

According to the Union Minister, 10,523 posts of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) were filled in the period 2019-2021. Of these, 93 posts were filled in 2020-21.
